FAN GATES - The name of the game is "FANS" for business. Many clients have made the big mistake of "FRIEND REQUESTING" strangers in hopes of marketing to them. For individuals its all about FRIENDS for business you need to concentrate on having a well designed and interactive, lead capturing FAN PAGE. Pages are different than your profile wall. You have to create a page for something before you can use it. However, simply having a Fan Page doesn't do any good if no one uses or can use it.
Simply broken down here is how a FAN GATE works:
You have a Facebook account.
You have a Facebook Business Page or "FAN" page for your company. (If you do not have one I create one for you.)
I create an APP page to add to your Facebook Fan page.
This Fan Gate App is custom designed to match your current "brand" [SEE EXAMPLES OF FAN GATE PAGES]
When the viewer first sees the app page they will be encouraged to BECOME A FAN by the non-fan overlay or "reveal" You want to offer something you think your customers WANT under that reveal whether it be a coupon, discount, special information, etc.. inticing them to WANT to become a fan because in order to "cash in" on the benefits they MUST become a fan.
The viewer BECOMES A FAN.
As soon as they click on the LIKE button the reveal goes away and shows the fans only benefit page.
From then on when a Facebook user views that page they will see the Fan page not the overlay because they are now YOUR FAN.
Now, that is not the only thing to DO with your Facebook Business Page!
